Projection Artist Nick Azidis to Light Up Melbourne Streets at Gertrude Street Projection Festival

Nick Azidis is a Greek-Australian projection artist based in Melbourne. From July 20-29 and in over 30 sites, Gertrude Street in Fitzroy, Victoria will be illuminated by the visions of talented projection artists for the Gertrude Street Projection Festival, which will feature Mr Azidis as well.

In its fifth year, the Gertrude Festival project aims to expose a large audience to this free outdoor street gallery. Other established projection artists whose work will be featured include Arika Waulu, Amanda Morgan, Olaf Meyer, Richie Cyngler, Russell Gray Goodman, Jarrod Factor, Yandell Walton, Lindsay Cox, Angela Barnett and Jacqui Mitelman.

Nick Azidis of Greek descent is the Artistic/Creative and Managing Director of Projectionteknik company, established in 1992. Since then, he has created over 1,500 projection installations.

He gave an interview to Neos Kosmos and said that “his work temporarily blends in or adds another layer or dimension to an existing environment- making you notice and think about the space differently.”

At first, he ‘fell in love’ with metalwork but he changed his view on this material and decided to get involved with something “that leaves no trace.”
