Greek Composer Elias Constantopedos in Briwyant Dance Performance

Greek-Australian Elias Constantopedos, currently based in New York, is composing the soundtrack for the Briwyant dance performance held by the Merlyn Theatre in Southbank, Victoria.

On July 4-14, residents of Melbourne will have the opportunity to watch Vicki Van Hout’s Briwyant, a work of choreographic dexterity and interdisciplinary innovation that brings to the stage an experience both ageless and fleeting: a moment of connection.

It is inspired by an aboriginal painting, called bir’yun, which describes the brilliance, shimmer and shine of a pattern that seems to move before the eyes.

Officials of  the Theatre describe Constantopedos’ work as ” a soundscape that will transport you well beyond the confines of the theatre into a realm of literal and figurative stories.”

Vicki Van Hout is a dancer and choreographer from New South Wales. She moved to New York in the early 90s and trained dance artists before returning to Australia in 1996 to perform with Bangarra Dance Theatre.

Several other successful performers will accompany Vicki Van Hout in the performance- Henrietta Baird, Raghav Handa, Rosealee Pearson, Beau Smith and Melinda Tyquin use their body and express unique feelings, proving that movement may be worth a thousand words sometimes.

The 52-minute-long Briwyant performance will be up till July 14 and tickets start from $28. For more information visit the following link:
