Greek Pharmacists Still on Strike

Greek pharmacists of Attica are still on strike and as a result, citizens insured by the  National Organization for Healthcare Provision (EOPYY) will continue paying the total price of their medicines until end of June. EOPYY owe pharmacists a great deal of money and thus, professionals face the difficulties in providing medicines free of charge or at least being paid for them by EOPYY after several months.
The Pharmacists Association of Attica had a meeting yesterday night on June 20th and after many disagreements, members of the association decided to continue their strike until June 30th. President of the Association Costas Lourantos threatened to quit when members participating in the meeting refused to approve the strike.
The decision made by the pharmacists to keep holding a strike was not easy! 491 of them voted for the strike while 478 voted against it. The most crucial moment for Greek pharmacists will be next Monday on June 25th when they will be informed about the total amount of money that the national healthcare provider EOPPY owes them.
It is worth mentioning as well that pharmacists of other Greek prefectures continue their strike opposing to Pan-Hellenic Pharmacists Association’s decision to halt it.
