2012 European Taekwondo Championships Under 21 Begin in Athens

The 3rd European Taekwondo Championships 2012 for athletes aged between 16 to 21  begins today at the Mets Sports Hall of Athens located in the historic triangle of the Greek capital.
The Championships, which will be held in Athens from 14 to 17 June, 2012, are organized by the Hellenic Taekwondo Federation, the Organization of Culture, Sports and Youth of the City of Athens and under the auspices of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
According to the president of the Athenian Organization, Panayiota Psaraki, hosting this particular sports event in Athens is a major achievement and an interesting challenge for the Greek city. “The Championships will attract thousands of taekwondo enthusiasts from around the world, which will help promote our country in these harsh financial times,” added Psaraki.
The European Championships will be attended by 310 athletes from 38 European countries, while more than 5,000 ‘sports tourists’ are expected to visit Athens during the three-day long event.
