Free Online Greek Lessons Offered by Greek-American Writer Papaloizos

Three generations of Greek-Americans have studied Greek language, history and civilization through the books of Dr. Theodore C. Papaloizos, a renowned teacher and author. For over fifty years, Dr. Papaloizos has been offering his services to Greek Letters. It is very unlikely that you can come across a teacher of Greek who has not used his books. According to a National Herald article dedicated to the great Greek-American teacher, he now offers the possibility of e-learning Greek through an online platform and the best thing of all–it is free.

For over fifty years the mission of Papaloizos Publications has been to preserve Greek language and culture and promote it in the US. He runs a two-generation family run publishing firm that specializes in modern Greek language learning materials for students of all ages.

The series of free online lessons offered by Papaloizos includes videos and other teaching tools developed over an academic career spanning 50 years. Schools and individual students are now able to use a new online Greek video tutor created by Dr. Papaloizos.

“This newest innovation will change the way Greek is learned in homes and in classrooms,” said Dr. Papaloizos. “The new online video tutor is designed for use with the reader and workbook and assists students in learning Greek. It dramatically improves the learning experience of students by adding interactive reading and writing exercises as well as enhanced self-study time to the curriculum.

He explained that effective learning occurs when students combine reading and writing with audio, visual and interactive components. The newly designed web site and video tutor complete that system of learning to permit students to learn at school and at home at their convenience.

Theodore Papaloizos was born in Cairo, Egypt in 1923. His father was a Greek-Cypriot while his mother came from the Greek island of Samos. He went to school in Cyprus and also studied for a year at the Philosophy Department in Athens. He currently lives in the US.
