Train-Taxi: A New Way to Move Through Thessaloniki

Visitors of Thessaloniki now have a new way of transportation at their disposal. The ”train-taxi” is a new service of the Greek railroad company OSE. Service consists of a combination of transportation between a train and taxi with one ticket forĀ  passengers who travel to Thessaloniki.
Travelers can book a special transportation ticket with the train-taxi service and will receive a discount, which can be upto 15 percent for any transfer they want from the train station of Thessaloniki to their destination, inside the city, and without paying any extra fees such as aĀ special fee of transfer from the train station. Passengers can book the service through all the stations of the Athens-Thessaloniki route, and from travel agencies in Athens, Thessaloniki, Volos and Larissa. The last station on the route that has the ability to provide booking is that of Katerini, near Thessaloniki.
After booking, passengers will receive a coupon with their name, the number of passengers and their final destination in two copies – one for them and the other for the taxi driver. The passenger can then use the ”train- taxi” within 15 minutes of the estimated arrival time of the train, even in case of delay.
If the client chooses a different destination from the one declared, and the fee is different than the previous one, the driver gives a new receipt with the new price. All the special prices are classified to zones according to areas ofĀ the city.
Currently, the service is scheduled to last for four months with the cooperation of one taxi company.
