Actor Christos Parlas Passes Away at 76

Famous cinema and theater actor Christos Parlas passed away today at the age of 76. He was born in Alexandria, Egypt, in 1936 and studied in Athens at K. Michaelidis Drama School. He started working as a professional actor on stage in 1957 and enjoyed a successful career.
He studied next to Vokovic, Phillipidis, Rontiris, Minotis and Solomos. His first theatrical appearance was in 1958 with Zirontos’ play “Tessa” on the National Theater and his first cinema appearance was in 1962 with the films “Ten Days in Paris” and “My Son-in-Law the Lawyer.”
He was a co-impresario in 1965-1966 of Phillipidis, Skiadas and Papagiannis in Thymeli Theater, Thessaloniki, and worked with the National Theater of Northern Greece during the 70s. He formed his own theater troupes and held plays which he also directed.
He tirelessly served the Greek cinema avoiding interviews and public statements during his successful career. One of his most recent works was a TV commercial spot for a known mobile network provider. He has also participated in TV series’ that were well received, including “The Disappearence of John Avlakiotis” and “The Children of Niobe.”
