Τhe Prime Minister of Victoria, Ted Ballieu, and the leader of the main opposition party, Daniel Andrews, will attend this year’s March 25th celebrations for the National Independence Day of Greece.
The commemorating event will take place at the Memorial of Fallen Men in Melbourne. The March 25th celebrations will be also attended by a representative of the Australian PM, Julia Gillard, a representative of the leading opposition party, members of the federal and state government of the country, an intergroup delegation from the Hellenic Parliament, Greek-Australian MPs, and representatives from the Armed Forces of Australia.
Despite the current financial hardships Greece is facing, the Hellenic Parliament has responded positively to the request of the Organizing Committee to send a delegation of Greek MPs from all parties to attend the celebrations of the National Anniversary. Eustathios Konstantinides (Nea Dimokratia, Florina) and Ioannis Korantis (Minsiter of State from LAOS) will represent Greece at this year’s celebrations.
