Germany’s Economy Minister Philipp Roesler proposed that one of the 27 European Commissioners should coordinate efforts for the recovery of the Greek economy. Roesler gave an interview on ‘Handelsblatt’ newspaper, stating that he does not know the reason why Greeks are against this proposal.
Moreover, Philipp Roesler said that a special European commissioner could save Greece from economic ruin and would be responsible for the implementation of the reforms needed in Greece.
“At this point, it is essential that Greece show willingness for cooperation”, Roesler emphasized, concluding “I think that the Greek population is aware of the sacrifices needed for the recovery of the Greek economy, but the Greek elite do not want to be deprived of their privileges”.
