Meeting Highlights Strong Relations Between Hungary and Greek Orthodoxy

During a meeting in Budapest between the President of Hungary, Pál Schmitt, and Metropolitan Arsenios of Austria and Exarch of Hungary and Mid-Europe, the strong relations between Greek Orthodoxy and the Hungarian State were the main topic of conversation.

During the meeting, the significance of Greek presence in Vienna was emphasized, as well as the importance of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, that contributed to the development of relations between Hungary and Greece.

The President of Hungary showed his interest of further cooperation between Hungary and the Ecumenical Patriarchate and expressed his favorable opinion concerning the return of the Kimisis tis Theotokou Church to the Ecumenical Patriarchate.

On his part, Metropolitan Arsenios expressed his agreement concerning the Ecumenical Patriarchate making the final decision regarding the return of the Kimisis tis Theotokou Church.
