Closed Professions Interventions Postponed Until Mid January

The Troika has rejected suggestions of ministries for the professions to maintain restrictions and waits until mid January for new lists, while interventions in lawyers, notaries, engineers and architects follow.
A package of settings from ministries should be incorporated into a bill by the end of the year, regarding professions that would maintain restrictions because of reasons of public interest.
The process of collection was entrusted to the Ministry of Finance, and the control is applied by the Competition Commission.
Information indicates that the Troika considers this reform as one of the most important for Greece, but was not satisfied by the meetings with stakeholders.
The Troika has given specific instructions to the Greek government, which divides the problem in two phases.
1. The government should have announced interventions in over 400 professions, and issue an implement act. But none of these happened, and the government plans to prepare a list and legal arrangement by January 15, when the Troika is expected to arrive in Athens.
2. For the profession, which are specifically mentioned in the law (layers, notaries, engineers, architects, auditors and pharmacists), the Troika is much more specific, and gives a deadline until March for the law that would bring great changes.
