An earthquake registering 4.5 on the Richter Scale was recorded just before midday today on the Greek island of Crete, local media reports.
Experts say that the epicentre of the tremor was located 87 kilometres north-east of the island, at a depth of 109 kilometres.
Initial reports suggest that there have been no victims or damage from the quake.
