The Telegraph: Greek George is crazy

“Greek George is crazy”, says Damian Reece from The Telegraph. At first sight the article seems a bit provocative and insulting. But then again if someone takes a closer look at what Mr. Papandreou has been up to the past couple of days, the article seems pretty normal.
Greek PM has managed to accomplish a rather difficult task: to turn everyone against him.  His decision to push a referendum on whether Greece should stay within the euro-zone or leave has outraged -literally-everyone: the euro-zone leaders, the Greek people themselves who instead of a referendum want him out, his own comrades and -obviously-the international media that blandly call him crazy and irresponsible.
The Greek PM wants to ask Greeks if they want to stay in the Euro or leave. And go where exactly? No one seems to know, not him, not the Greek people themselves who so passionately object to last week’s Brussels agreement.
Lets be honest here. Is there a different path that can be taken than last week’s Brussels agreement? Have all those Greeks who are ready to vote NO to this insane referendum realized the changes the drachma is going to bring to their lives? Have they realized that their wages, their pensions and their properties will basically worth zero?
And to the question “How much worse can things get?”, the answer is that out of the Euro, things can get a lot worse.
