Greece is using emergency powers to order garbage crews back to work, as an escalating campaign of strikes by public servants and other unions against austerity measures has crippled services in the troubled eurozone member.
Socialist Prime Minister George Papandreou issued the civil mobilization order Tuesday, on the 17th day of a collectors’ strike that has left piles of rotting garbage around the Greek capital.
