4th Annual London Greek Film Festival 2011

The 4th Annual London Greek Film Festival (LGFF) opens its doors on Monday, October 17 at the famous Westbourne Studios (242 Acklam Road, Notting Hill, London W10 5JJ).

This year’s festival aims to show the country’s creative and optimistic ability to produce art and emerge strong through the current extremely tough financial situation in Greece.

After three years, the LGFF has become an institution with its participations this year including contemporary features and short films, documentaries, experimental films, animation, video art and scripts.

Screenings of the 4th Annual LGFF will start off with Nikos Koundouros’ film “Byron, Ballad for a Daemon” (1992), and will end with a tribute to Michael Cacoyiannis, presenting his last film “The Cherry Orchard” (1999).

A surprise feature film of this year’s festival is the less known documentary on the Turkish invasion of Cyprus with Melina Merkouri (1975), which will make its first world premiere in a film theatre provided by the Museum of the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT).

Famous actor and director Nikos Kalogeropoulos will be also participating with his latest movie “Riders of Pylos”.

The festival will end on Tuesday 25th of October with the Odysseus Awards ceremony at Westbourne Studios.
