Former Russian PM Vladimir Putin enjoys a reputation among Russians as a strong, active man who succeeds in whatever he chooses to do.
A recent picture, however, showing him finding the fragments of an Ancient Greek amphorae on a diving expedition in the Black Sea last August proved to be staged, as admitted by his spokesman Dmitry Peskov during the latter’s interview.
According to information, the artifacts had been placed there by archaeologists wishing to please the Russian politician so that he could experience what it was like to be in on such a discovery.
“The Ancient Greek jar fragments were found during an archaeological expedition several days before Putin’s dive. They were then left or placed there for him to find. “It is a completely normal thing to do”, said Mr. Peskov.
The former Russian PM has also been pictured shirtless on horseback in Siberia, warmly wrapped as he tracked polar bears in the Arctic, leather-clad as part of a bikers’ rally and showing off his judo skills in a video on martial arts.
