Tax Cards Available in Banks Starting Monday

Greek tax cards, devices that electronically record transactions are going to be available in banks for customers to obtain. These card will help people count their receipts, by keeping their total expenses electronically.
The main purpose of the cards is to help people keep track of their purchases for their income tax returns without hoarding bags of receipts.
The card has the appearance of a common credit card, but it will not bare personal data of the holder. White and emblazoned with the words “receipts card,” it will also feature a 10-digit code which links to the holder’s tax registration number (AFM).
Shoppers should present the card to the retailer as they pay. The retailer will swipe the card through the point of sale (POS) machine used for credit cards transactions and the information will then be passed onto the bank that has provided the machine. At the end of each month, the lender will send the information to the Ministry of Finance.
The Ministry of Finance has also set up a special customer phone center that will answer all taxpayers’ questions related to the new taxcard system.
Ministry of Finance officials believe that the card will prevent business owners from concealing sales figures.
