Fire fighters are still fighting with the raging fire which broke out on the northern side of Corfu. Authorities have noted 19 different places in which fire has broken out.
The fire threatens villages and residencies, and is only 10 km away from downtown.
Responding to calls for help from local authorities, vehicles have been sent from Macedonia, West Greece, and Hpeiros periphery to aid in fighting the fire. The Deputy Fire Chief arrived in Corfu today with C130 aircraft, a type of aircraft often used for aerial firefighting.
According to initial assessments, the fire is believed to be the result of arson.
