Research Shows Low Rate of Employment in Greece

Alba Graduate Business School has been researching the employment rate  in Greece. On July 27th, The school announced its results for the first half of 2011.

208 companies participated in the research, of which 51,1% were Greek and 48,9% were international. The majority of the companies were private.

39,9% of the companies had less than 100 employees, 34,4% were considered to be big companies with 100-499 employees and 25,7% had 500 staff members.

One third of the companies plan to reduce their labor force and only 17%  of the companies are in a position to hire staff. 50% of the participants made no wage increase .

Services, pharmaceutical sections, and construction seem to have more positive movement , whilst pedagogic and touristic areas give less opportunities. However one out of two companies seems to be optimistic about the current situation.

63,2% are very much feeling the financial crisis. Companies have been trying to find new ways of reducing their costs, for instance 50% will reduce the  training of their workers as well as their bonuses. Traveling for meetings will be reduced when possible, opting for  e-conferences if possible.

According to the research, companies have started to become familiar with websites representing those in search of employment.  Companies have begun to agree that this is becoming the easier and quicker way to get hired.
