Thousands of cab drivers gathered outside the Greek Parliament on 26, July, to protest against the proposed deregulation. They announced to the media that they intend to stay outside the building until their demands are heard.
The representatives of the taxi Union stated that they had given their unanimous requests to all political parties. Their President, Mr. Lyberopoulos noted that many political members were on their side. However, the cab drivers have to stay in their positions if they want to succeed in overthrowing the new measures. He went on to say that, “Similar episodes of the last few days have to be avoided. No further blocking of the streets, ports and airports is necessary.”
