First Gold Medal for Greece in International Mathematical Olympiad

Thirty-six years have passed since Greece first participated in the International Mathematical Olympiad and this year, won the first gold medal. In particular, George Vlachos, Graduate of Arsakeios School, won the gold medal at the 52nd International Mathematical Olympiad, while the Greek team also won another three bronze medals and an honorary distinction.
Greece is ranked 40th out of 101 countries that participated in the Olympiad, with George Vlachos classified in the 14th position among 560 mathematical minds, gathering 30 points in total. Greece participated with a group of six students and the students who have excelled are: George Vlahos (gold medal), George Kalantzis (bronze), Panagiotis Lolas (bronze), Alexandros Mousatov (bronze) and Spyeros Kakaroumpas (Honorable Mention).
