Salaries of Greek Deputies to be Reduced August, 2011

According to an article of the Greek newspaper “Real news,” until July of 2011, a Greek deputy was paid 6.595,03 euro per month. However, from August, the salary will be diminished; 5% due to the special levy and 3% for the contributions to the unemployed, in other words it will be reduced by 660.16 euro.
In more details, the basic salary was 5.780,60 euro without adding the benefit for organizing a central office (935,88 euro), the family benefit (35 euro), the postal rates (1.136,64 euro) and the benefits they received for transportation  because some politicians stated they spent more than 1.000 euro in order to travel to Athens from their regions or to visit their homelands. In total, they were paid 8.252,12 euro per month. Due to the taxes and the deductions 1.607,09 euro were deducted, so their net income was 6.595,03 euro.
