Athens Mayor Urges Protesters to Leave Syntagma Square

The Athenian mayor tried to convince protesters to leave from Syntagma Square on Friday. The response of the protesters was immediate and they refused to abandon their positions.  The protesters have been camping for more than a month.

“Indignants” stated that they are not planning to leave if politicians and governments leading the nation to the current situation are not planning to leave their positions. If the memorandum and Medium Fiscal Program are not denounced, then they plan to remain.

After the 48-hour strike happened a few days ago, the protesters are still affected by the violent conflict. They will remain and they do not intend to leave for the Mayor, who seems to be concerned about the image of the Syntagma Square.  He is eager to restore it especially in Greece’s peak season.

Syntagma Sguare is the central square in front of the Greek Parliament in Athens. According to the mayor, such a situation is not allowed during the high tourist season. He mentioned that he will try to find a solution about the problem but without using violence.
