“The reforms in higher education open up new ways, apart from the everyday conflicts over the numbers of the Medium-Term Plan,” stated Minister of Education Anna Diamantopoulou.
The Minister of Education emphasized on the importance of the new education bill. She noted that the evaluation system will be introduced at all levels of teachers every five years, and that all Higher Education and Technological Institutes (AEI and TEI, respectively) will be given the opportunity to organize their academic programs of study and to define their duration, while the student status will be invalid if the student has not been registered in two consecutive semesters.
The Minister recognizes that the current situation has made the government lose its pace over the last 5 months, stressing that “there was no rhythm, coordination and determination as required by the times.” She stresses, however, that any early elections in September would be equivalent to national suicide.
