Nicosia’s theatergoers will have the opportunity on June 29th to attend as part of the 14th Festival of the University of Cyprus, a theatrical work called “The Apology of Socrates”.  It will be interpreted on stage by the Emmy award winning actor Yannis Simonides.
“The Apology of Socrates”, directed by Lukas Skipitaris, evokes the bizarre personality of Socrates and offers a profound social and political, but mostly human work.
“The Apology of Socrates” was first staged in New York in 2004 and since then it has been presented with great success at the United Nations, the Ancient Agora of Athens, the NBC Today Show, and more than 200 theaters in the U.S., Canada, Uruguay, Greece, France, Luxembourg, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and Great Britain.
Top universities such as Yale, Columbia, Michigan, Cambridge, Oxford and Edinburgh combined the show with interactive seminars. The stylist of the show Theoni Vachlioti-Olntritz was awarded with Oscar and Tony awards, while the soundtrack was composed by Keri Cheilman.
