Wall Street Giant Thomas Belesis Honored as Businessman of the Year

Thomas Belesis, CEO of John Thomas Financial, an independent broker/dealer and investment-banking firm located in New York City’s Financial District, received the 2011 Businessman of the Year Award from the New York Republican County Committee at the annual Lincoln Day Dinner on Tuesday, June 14th at the Grand Hyatt in New York, NY.

Mr. Belesis received this honor on the heels of a similar award from the Queens County Republican Party, which recognized him as the 2011 Businessman of the Year last month at the annual Spring Dinner and Awards Reception.

The New York Republican County Committee Lincoln Day Dinner was hosted by Hon. Daniel W. Isaacs, New York Republican County Committee Chairman.  Also presiding over the event were Hon. Edward F. Cox, New York Republican State Committee Chairman, and Hon. Rob Astorino, Westchester County Executive and Master of Ceremonies Curtis Sliwa. Special Guest Texas Governor Rick Perry delivered the keynote address.

Mr. Belesis founded John Thomas Financial in 2007.  Since then, the company has grown from a boutique firm with a 500 sq. ft. office to a full-service financial organization.  Now occupying the entire 43,000 sq. ft. 23rd floor of a landmarked Wall Street building, formerly the headquarters of Bankers Trust, John Thomas Financial and its affiliates provide a range of retail brokerage, investment banking, corporate advisory, and private wealth management services.

John Thomas Financial successfully identified and built strategies around key markets for the investors they serve, including the funding of alternative energy, coal, oil and gas and exploration companies both domestically and internationally. In addition, John Thomas Financial successfully raised capital biopharmaceutical industry, as well as various other sectors.

In addition to his business ventures, Mr. Belesis supports various causes including the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation for Cancer Research, and several animal rights and rescue charities.

In 2009, Mr. Belesis was named Bronx GOP Man of the Year, an award presented to him by former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Downtown Magazine, the first publication highlighting the best of Lower Manhattan, named Mr. Belesis “The New Face of Finance” in its Winter 2010 inaugural issue.
