Former Labor MP Milton Orkopoulos’ Employee Awarded $438,000

Gillian Sneddon, who worked at the office of former Labor MP Milton Orkopoulos, reported being bullied and victimised after she helped police in an investigation against him.

Yesterday, the woman blew the whistle on Milton Orkopoulos and was awarded $438,000 by the New South Wales Supreme Court for her action.

In 2008, Orkopoulos was sentenced to 14 years imprisonment with an obligation to serve at least 9 years, before he has the right for an early release.  He was found guilty of 30 out of 34 child sex and drug offences. In the court, it was mentioned that he repeatedly gave intravenous heroin to a young boy before having intercourse with him.

Orkopoulos, who at first stated that he was innocent, resigned from the position of Minister for Aboriginal Affairs and his electorate office. He also tried to commit suicide.
