27th Hellenic-American Leadership Conference Begins

The three-day proceedings of the 27th annual Conference of the Hellenic-American Leadership for Greece and Cyprus, with the participation of about a hundred representatives from the USA, Canada and Great Britain have started. On the occasion of the conference, representatives will meet with high officials of the White House and the State Department and more than thirty members of the Congress, which deal with foreign affairs, armed forces and budget issues.

The Cypriot government will be represented by Director-General of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Ambassador Nikos Emiliou. The proceedings of the conference will also be attended by Ambassadors of Greece and Cyprus in the USA, Vassilis Kaskarelis and Pavlos Anastasiades, and members of the Hellenic-American Leadership. National Security Advisor for Vice President Biden, Anthony Blinken and State Department Ambassador for Religious Freedom Suzan Johnson Cook will give speeches.

The same night, during the gala organized by the Ambassador of Cyprus, representatives will honor Ambassador Nikos Emiliou. During the official dinner of the conference on Wednesday night, Eleni Tsakopoulou-Kounalaki and President of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Parliament, Iliana Ros-Lehtinen will be also honored. On the occasion of the conference proceedings, on Wednesday morning, Congress will honor senators Ben Cardin and Robert Menendez, senator Olympia Snowe, President of the US Committee on Foreign Relations of John Kerry and Senator Robert Keishy. On Thursday morning, there will be a discussion concerning the relationship between Cyprus and Israel, where Ambassador Nikos Emiliou and Jason Isaakson will be the main speakers.
