Ex-minister convicted for making false income declarations

Tasos Mantelis
Former Greek Transportation Minister, Tasos Mantelis was sentenced Wednesday to three years’ probation for not being able to explain the source of his income.
The prosecutor’s office accused him of receiving illegal donations to his campaign from the German group Siemens.
Mantelis is also under investigation on charges of money laundering.
Mantelis served as transport minister from 1997-2000 and also served in the leadership of the center-left Party of PASOK, which is currently in power in Greece.
