Thessalia Biological Products Sold at Harrods

Visitors of “Harrods”, “Harvey Nichols” and “Selfridges” in London have the chance to buy products made of honey and tomato and produced by Alexandros Gousiaris from Karditsa. Although being a Math graduate, Gousiaris decided to work in the honey production sector, as his family has been raising bees since the end of 19th century. In 1996, he promoted his products at a bazaar where Panagis Manouilidis got impressed by his work and suggested him cooperation. Manouilidis owns “Odysea” company, which trades and distributes Greek products to Great Britain and two years later, he urged Gousaris to start cultivating tomato. The producer from Karditsa tried this new suggestion and treated his tomatoes in a traditional way. In 2004, his products were authenticated as biological. Today, 90% of his production is distributed abroad under the label “Odysea”, while in Greece his products can be found in luxurious hotels and special stores as “Μέλι, παραγωγή Γκουσιάρης” and “Τομάτα Στραγγιστή”. The products have won several awards in Great Britain, Belgium and Greece and have already started being promoted in Austria and Germany.
