Protesters Attack Deputy PM Pangalos (video)

Dozens of protesters jeered outside a restaurant near Athens where Deputy Prime Minister Pangalos was having dinner with a small group of fellow Socialist lawmakers. When he tried to address the crowd, they threw yoghurt.
The protesters also hurled a broken chair at Pangalos, bruising him on the right shoulder, his office said in a statement on Thursday, accusing the small Left Coalition party of staging the incident.
“The Left Coalition’s tactics bring to mind what the enemies of democracy did in the Weimar Republic. Only the Nazis benefited,” he said.
The Left Coalition dismissed Pangalos’ comments. “His comments have nothing to do with reality,” the party’s spokesman Panos Skourletis told Reuters.
Over the past months, protesters have increasingly booed Greek politicians they see at restaurants or on the street and have gathered outside their homes to jeer them.
