Interior Minister Yiannis Ragoussis on Thursday announced Ministry plans to increase work hours for civil services. Hours will be increased by 2 1/2 hours weekly, from the current 37 1/2 hours to 40 hours per week, similar to the private sector.
He made the announcement during a meeting with the presidium of the civil servants’ umbrella federation ADEDY.
Additionally, the Minister said the government will keep certain “vital services” open to the public in the afternoons as well.
Regarding the second proposed initiative, Ragoussis stressed that the Ministry was not referring to a schedule broken into a morning and afternoon shift, but one continuous shift.
