On Wednesday, November 24th the Friends of Cyprus Group will be formally established at the New South Wales Parliament.
The news was confirmed by the president of the Cypriot community of New South Wales Michalis Christodoulou. He noted that this Group will: “further contribute to the further strengthening of relations between the State of N. S. Wales with the Republic of Cyprus and better information on the Cyprus problem, whenever required”.
“Our community for a long time has been making efforts for the formation of this Group and made relevant contacts with party representatives”, said Christodoulou.
Co-chairmen of the Group will be Labor Senator and President of the state Upper House Amanda Fazio and Liberal Senator David Clark.
The two politicians led the activities on the formation of the Group and they are often present in events organized by the Cypriot community. They have expressed strong support for Cyprus.
“The support we have comes from all parties and we are pleased for this. This does not only include the support we received from our politicians who are of Greek origins, but also the support from politicians of other ethnic backgrounds”, said Christodoulou.
