The Director of the International Film Festival of Montreal Serge Lozik stated: “Theo Angelopoulos is the filmmaker of the filmmakers. Greece should be very proud to have a director like Theo Angelopoulos because he creates real commercial cinema without concessions”. The festival will run from September 20th to October 1st, 2010. It is a 12 day tribute to Theo Angelopoulos’ films and is sponsored by the restaurant chain owner Kostas Spiliadis. Spiliadis celebrates 30 years of operations.
The Greek director attended the Gala premiere at the La Cinematheque Quebecoise cinema (photo) with his wife and producer of his movies, Phoebe. The Gala premeier offered a screening of “Kithira”. Many prominent members of the Greek community were present.
Yesterday Theo Angelopoulos visited with students of the Greek speaking all day school Socrates. He was impressed by their preparation and knowledge in cinema and especially in his own films. “I am really excited watching this glorious school, seeing children asking interesting questions in Greek and also a student expressing his desire to become a director” the internationally renowned director stated.
There will be free entrance to all of Theo Aggelopoulos’ movies.
