The Sydney Morning Herald: “Brewarrina without Cafe De Luxe Would be a Greek Tragedy”

The Sydney Morning Herald has an article dedicated to the traditional Greek cafe De Luxe in Brewarrina, New South Wales. The article is titled: “Brewarrina without Cafe De Luxe would be a Greek tragedy”.

The Café De Luxe opened 84 years ago and is one of the oldest cafes in Australia. Owners Angelo and Margaret Pippos keep this family business alive throughout the years with their moto: “Cleanliness and Civility”.

According to Leonard Janiszewski who studied the history and the social impact of the Greek cafes in Australia, the Café De Luxe is the end of an era of the family cafes. The locals should be ready to accept the inevitable end of the traditional cafe soon.

Mr. Pippos said that without children there is no one to take the Cafe De Lux over.
