The Greek government has extended visas for Russian tourists reluctant to return to their fire ravaged homeland, according to the Russian Prime-Tass news agency.
Wildfires have engulfed central Russia for the past month killing more than 50 and leaving more than 3500 homeless.
The Greek embassy in Moscow confirmed that Greece will extend the duration of Russian visitors to stay free of charge . The visitors could remain in Greece until September 10 regardless of the arrival date. A Greek diplomat stated that visas have been extended automatically with no action from their holders required.
