Wealthy Russians Interested in Greek Properties

Wealthy Russians are looking for Greek real estate bargains. Sapon Mayor Pililitsis stated to the newspaper “Thraki” that Russian investors have expressed interest in investing in Serres Industrial Park.  Sapon is a small city in Northern Greece.

There are Russians who plan to invest more than half a billion euros in Greek real estate to develop resorts or acquire hotels. There would be even more interest by the Russians if the Greek government would find a way to issue visas easier to Russian citizens.

Greece is interested in making the process of the visa receiving for the Russians as simple as it is possible. Ministry of Culture and tourism had issued a statement  saying “Greece, being in the frames of the EU, is trying to find recipes for organization of particular approach for the Russian citizens, coming to Greece.” It is notable, that the Greek visas are given in Greek consulate in Moscow in 48 hours and in a day in the St. Petersburg one.

Greece is becoming extremely popular in Russia like a place to spend holidays. It suggests the tourists not only the beach-related rest and sightseeing, but the organization of congresses and even the pilgrim tourism.

The recession in Russia which appears to have passed, has recently brought an influx of Russian businessmen who want to buy property. In addition to the tycoons more wealthy Russians are interested in luxury flats and seaside holiday homes. Real estate agents say that their interest is focused on five Greek regions: Halkidiki, Corfu, Crete, Rhodes and Zakynthos.
