Emmy award-winning reporter Anna Davlantes is the new co-anchor of “Good Day Chicago,” the morning show of WFLD- Channel 32, the local Fox–owned station in Chicago. She shares the desk with colleague Corey McPherrin.
Davlantes joined WFLD last year, serving as contributing anchor and reporter of the late news. Prior to joining WFLD, the Chicago native spent nine years at the NBC-owned WMAQ-Channel 5 in Chicago, as weekend co-anchor and general assignment reporter. She’d previously anchored in Houston, Texas and in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
The reporter has received numerous awards for her work, including several Emmy Awards. For her breaking news coverage of the John Hancock building’s deadline scaffolding collapse, she received a regional Emmy and was nominated for a national award
She is also the 2005 recipient of the prestigious Ethics Award In Journalism from The Chicago Headline Club for a series of reports exposing mob involvement and corruption in a suburban government. Davlantes won another Emmy for her first documentary, “Get Into the Shark Tank!”
The journalist is very involved in the Greek community, as well as the Chicago community-at-large. She is a co-founder of the Greek Media Club, and has lent her time and talent as mistress of ceremonies for many events. A graduate of Chicago Public Schools, Davlantes is involved with school programs, including mentoring students. Additionally, she’s organized fundraisers for wounded veterans returning from war. Over the last two years, her “Cheers for Heroes” events have raised more than $400,000 for local veterans.
Davlantes told the Chicago Sun-Times that she “might also work on the occasional investigative piece for the station’s late news.” She appears weekday mornings from 7:00 – 10:00 am.
