Swiss Woman Drowns in Stalida, Crete

A 33 year old Swiss mother of two died tragically off the coast of Stalida, Crete.  She had just arrived on holidays the day before and died yesterday morning.
“We had two people drowned in the region of Malia and Hersonissos, twenty six rescues of tourists and a serious injury to a 17 year old boy from Athens just during the month of July” stated Vassilis Kapsis, Administrator of  The Port Authority of Hersonissos.
The unlucky woman was swimming in the sea, panicked and started to ask for help. Although the lifeguard arrived quickly and raced her to land he and the doctor on hand could not help.  She had left her two sons in their hotel room.
The Port Authorities of Hersonissos will conduct a preliminary examination to determine the exact reasons for her death. As Mr. Kapsis explained, they immediately tried to accommodate the children. Until yesterday the two children were in the Social Service of The University Hospital of Heraclion without knowing about their mother, while their Bosnian father was trying to find a ticket to come to Greece.
