Actress Eva Galani Hosts a Travel Show about Greek Nightlife

Thousands of actors move to the United States every year to chase the American dream. Eva Galani, an upcoming young actress, shared with us her experience living in New York, where she spent a significant amount of time participating in an acting workshop. Eva talked to us about the difficulties she had to face while living in the big city, how she plans to move to LA, and also gave us an inside look about her latest project “Europe After Dark” where she co-hosted. Greek Reporter was present during the shooting that took place in Greece of the traveling TV Show that will premiere on a major TV Network. The traveling show presents elements takes people on a tour in Athens’ nightlife.

Tell us about your experience living in the States.

I stayed over 6 months in NY. I studied @ HB studios (winter studies) and took many workshop’s classes as well as work on scenes & monologues with Tom Todoroff, Voice and speech with Shane Ann Younts, Alexander Technique with Tom Vasiliades, Viewpoints with Janice Orlandi etc. Working with and being taught by these highly educated professionals was an excellent lesson, not only for my performance bond, but also for my professional ethics too!

How different was it from Greece?

It’s quite different working in US than working in Greece. I think the states work with much more meritocracy and more professionalism (At least that was my experience).

What were some of the difficulties you had to face your first days in NYC?

Well, when I landed in JFK, I looked around me and the first thought in my mind was: “have I ever been here before? It’s so familiar to me. It looks like I already had a home here.” And that was my feeling the entire time I stayed there and even now. People in NY are so kind and helpful. I felt them as my family and so did they. I was treated very well. Oh, yes! I had only one little problem…. I was shivering with cold!!! I’m telling u, Greece has the best weather on the planet!!!!

Any thoughts about going back to Greece?

Not any…many! but I have made up my mind to stay in the US but move to Los Angeles this time.

Tell us about the project “Europe After Dark” that recently wrapped in Greece.

First of all, the experience of shooting “Europe After Dark” was fantastic!! “Europe after dark” is a traveling TV show which takes place in many European countries. It’s about how people have fun in these countries. I was the Greek co-hostess with Evan Paley as the main host of the show, and the production team included Steve Janas, Robert Kadelka, Rigas Pantos etc. They‘re all good professionals and organized the production very well. Although we hardly slept, I was feeling so lively, with and without any weariness.

How was it being part of a team working in a production for a major network TV Station?

As I said before, it was an amazing experience and I feel so lucky for being a part of that excellent work, which will be shown next summer on a major TV network (travel channel or discovery channel)

How was working with the rest of the crew?

All of them were super excellent. We had a very good time shooting! Me and Evan understood what we had to do only with the director’s one word, and the director knew exactly what he wanted!! That’s why we had a 3 day shooting instead of a week (or more) shooting with the same results.

Tell us about your hobbies and things you enjoy doing in your free time.

I have many hobbies such as skiing, water skiing, sailing, traveling and learning about others countries and their traditions, dancing, kick boxing etc. Also, I love screenwriting.

What are your future plans?

For the immediate future I had 2 interesting offers (for this autumn) but nothing sure yet. So I can’t tell u yet. For distant future I‘ll find a good agency and move to LA!!!
