Pictures of Siege in Pireaus Port- sailing with difficulties

Blocking still remains in Pireaus Port as the main entrance gates are being closed down by the strikers of “PAME” ( A Greek organization of workers ). The demonstrators have taken by storm the launchers of numerous ships that would travel to the Saronic Islands, making sailing difficult.
At the same time, members of the PAME organization are moving towards “Eluros” ship destined to Xania, which is planned to depart at 21:00 p.m  Their main goal now is to take hold of the ship and especially to occupy the launcher in order to make sailing impossible.
Early last night, a deluge of police forces came to the Port so as to make sure that everything is under control and the Port will operate with no problems. However, a small group of sailors, about 50 people,  have managed to enter the Port, whereas the others closed down the entrance gates. The strikers have also created a human chain in front of the Post Authorities so as the officers and the citizens could not enter.
At 7 : 15 a.m the rest of the ships departed normally for their destinations. However, many of the passengers did not manage to board as the strikers have closed down the main entrances of the Port.
The district attorney’s office gave directions to the Post Authority and the Police Department, in order to take care of the safe sailing of the ships.
The majority of the departures during noon and afternoon were cancelled. Once more, a handful of people have created serious problems in the main Port of the country. At the moment all the itineraries have been rescheduled or even cancelled as the PAME demonstrators do not give ground. So, the citizens have the impression that the itineraries are being scheduled by the strikers.
The situation is crucial as the tourists leave Greece having the worst impressions and the picture of our country is being blackened all around the globe, in the middle of the economic crisis.
