A Greek artist in the …“Art World Cup”.

The Greek National Team may has bravely left South Africa but a remarkable Greek artist of Diaspora, Dimitris Loumiotis (photo), who lives and creates in Vienna for 25 years now, will  participate in the “2010FineArt” of Johannesburg until the end of the World Cup.

In the great exhibition that takes place in the Stadium Collection Launcend mounted by “2010fineart”, 160 international artists participate, coming from the participant countries of the  Football World Cup. Dimitris Loumiotis exhibit a three-dimensional picture of digital art with the theme: “Football and Africa”.

The picture is printed on a canvas with special inks , while some copies (and copies of other artists’ pictures) will be available for the hosts in many ways.

Born in 1960 in Parnassus of Gortinia, Greece,  Dimitris Loumiotis discovered his talent in art when, in 1973, he first visited Aegina  and he was impressed by the artists of the island. Then, he started experiment with drawing or sculpture with the widely known Aegina’s  sandstone.

In 1985, he came in Vienna and studied lithography , chalcography and silk screen in the famous “Art Print” workshop  and in the same time he started working as a designer. In 1997, he opened his own atelier in a central area of the Austrian capital.

In Austria, Dimitris Loumiotis is widely known as the artist of Multimedia, of Art facilities and of the Art of computers. An example of his work is his exhibition in the International exhibition in Johannesburg

Some of his works are in different collections, while he has participated in many team and individual exhibitions in Austria and in other countries. Recently, he was in Greece, with a special individual exhibition of 20 pictures in the Gounaropoulos Museum in the Zografou area of Athens.
