Lecture by Former USAID Administrator Andrew Natsios at DEREE

Georgetown University Professor and former USAIDAdministrator Andrew Natsios (photo) will deliver an address on “What Classical Greece teaches Modern Greece | Lessons on History and Crisis” at DEREE – The American College of Greece
The lecture will take place on Thursday, May 27th at 7:30 p.m. at the John S. Bailey Library of the College’s Aghia Paraskevi Campus (6 Gravias Street, Aghia Paraskevi). Admission is free and open to the public.
As USAID Administrator, Professor Natsios directed $14 billion in economic and humanitarian assistance to some of the world’s most troubled regions including Afghanistan, Iraq, Indonesia after the tsunami and Sudan. Mr. Natsios served as Presidential Special Envoy to Sudan during at the height of the Darfur crisis in 2006-2007. Previously he served the Commonwealth of Massachusetts over a long and distinguished career of public service, most notably as CEO of the Turnpike Authority where he oversaw the Big Dig project, the largest public works project in US history.
Mr. Natsios is author of several articles and books, including The Great Korean Famine (2001) and US Foreign Policy and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (1997). He is currently writing a book on Sudan.
The Natsios lecture is part of the continuing celebrations for the 135 years of The American College of Greece.
