The latest reports, citing the issue now under discussion, comes after the Patriot deployment in Karpathos was extended beyond its initially expected mission. Greece had considered withdrawing the system in May after the immediate threat assessment changed, but the battery remained on the island as regional tensions persisted.
The potential move would therefore mark another adjustment in Greece’s air-defense posture, shifting attention back toward Souda and the protection of critical infrastructure on Crete.
