Greece has secured top honors with US travel market awards for yet another year, reinforcing its position as one of the most sought-after European destinations for American travelers, according to an official announcement by the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO).
The country achieved major distinctions at two high-profile industry events hosted by American publishing house FXExpress Publications:
- Favorite Country (7th Consecutive Year): Awarded at the 12th Annual The Trazees 2026, which highlights the preferences and travel habits of millennial visitors
- Best Family-Friendly Multigenerational Destination of the Year (4th Consecutive Year): Awarded at the 9th Annual Wherever Awards 2026, focusing on choices made by modern families traveling together
Both annual awards recognize excellence across a broad range of travel categories, including urban, culinary, and family destinations, alongside top airports, airlines, hotel chains, cruise lines, and theme parks.
The GNTO noted that these accolades reflect Greece’s targeted promotional strategy in North America, bolstered by record direct flight connectivity between major US hubs and Athens. The award results are determined through an open, months-long online survey conducted among thousands of readers across trazeetravel.com and whereverfamily.com.
The joint award ceremony for both The Trazees and the Wherever Awards took place on Monday, August 3, 2026 in Chicago.
