Building on their victory in Friday’s technical duet, the sisters returned to the pool for the free duet final, executing an extraordinary routine that earned a top score of 316.38 points. The performance edged out pre-tournament favorites Spain (315.64), who had led the qualifying rounds, leaving Russia to take the bronze.
The double-gold triumph marks a monumental moment for Greek artistic swimming, bringing the nation’s historical gold medal count in the sport at the European Championships to three.
Beyond their podium dominance, the weekend carried immense significance for the Greek team. The Hellenic Olympic Committee (HOC) officially confirmed that the Volos-born triplets—Anna-Maria, Eirini-Marina, and world solo champion Vasiliki—are returning to represent Greece after fourteen years competing under the Austrian flag.
