Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis congratulated acclaimed British filmmaker Christopher Nolan on the global success of his film adaptation of Homer’s The Odyssey during a video call on Monday, praising the director for bringing one of ancient Greece’s greatest literary works to audiences around the world.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Mitsotakis commended Nolan for his cinematic interpretation of the epic poem and thanked him for helping renew international interest in ancient Greek civilization.
The prime minister said productions such as The Odyssey help bridge Greece’s rich cultural heritage with contemporary filmmaking while introducing Homer’s timeless story to a new generation of viewers.
Mitsotakis also highlighted the film’s strong box office performance and expressed his appreciation that a significant portion of the production was filmed in Greece.

Nolan’s adaptation was shot at several iconic Greek locations, showcasing the country’s dramatic landscapes and archaeological heritage while strengthening Greece’s growing reputation as an international destination for major film productions.
