An 89-year-old man remains at large on Tuesday after carrying out two separate shootings in Athens, injuring several people.
The suspect, reportedly suffering from psychological issues, first entered an EFKA (social security) office in Kerameikos earlier today. He proceeded to the fourth floor, where he pulled a shotgun from beneath a counter and shot a staff member in the leg.
Following the initial attack, the man reportedly traveled approximately five kilometers to the Athens Court of Appeals on Loukareos Street. According to early reports, he reached the location by taxi, successfully concealing the shotgun inside his jacket. At the courthouse, he opened fire, injuring three additional people.
Emergency services, including an ambulance and two EKAB motorcycle units, were dispatched to the scenes. All victims were transported to the Erythros Stavros Hospital; reports indicate that their conditions are stable, as they sustained minor injuries to their lower limbs from shotgun pellets.
Authorities have launched a manhunt to locate the suspect, who managed to flee the scene after the second attack. Witnesses at the EFKA office described the chilling moments of the first shooting, stating that the suspect brandished the weapon suddenly before opening fire.
