Carlos Ray “Chuck” Norris, a man who was more than just a movie star, passed away on March 20, 2026, at the age of 86. He was a living embodiment of discipline, strength, and an internet-era symbol of invincibility.
Before he was the face of a thousand “facts” about his superhuman strength, Norris was a legitimate pioneer. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, he rose to prominence as a world-class karate champion, eventually founding his own martial arts style, Chun Kuk Do.
His 1972 showdown with Bruce Lee in The Way of the Dragon remains one of the most iconic fights in cinematic history, a moment that launched him into a decades-long career as a premier action hero in hits like Missing in Action, The Delta Force, and the long-running series Walker, Texas Ranger.
The “Chuck Norris Facts”
In his later years, Norris embraced his status as a cultural phenomenon. The “Chuck Norris Facts” turned him into a mythic figure for a new generation—a man so tough that “death once had a near-Chuck-Norris experience.” Yet, behind the “tough guy” exterior was a man of deep faith and philanthropy, particularly through his Kickstart Kids program, which used martial arts to teach character to at-risk youth.
His final message to his fans, shared on his 86th birthday just days ago, was one of gratitude and vitality.
In a video posted to his social media, he was seen sparring with a trainer in a tropical location, appearing remarkably fit and energetic. In the caption and the video, he shared these words:
“I’m not getting old. I’m getting fit. Today I’m 86. There’s nothing like some playful action on a sunny day to make you feel young. I’m grateful for another year, good health, and the chance to keep doing what I love. Thank you all for being the best fans in the world. Your support through the years has meant more to me than you’ll ever know.”
He also famously quipped in the video, “I don’t age. I level up,” a line that immediately went viral among his fans and added one last entry to the legendary “Chuck Norris Facts.”
