Greece’s Naxos ranks first on a global 2026 list of top travel destinations, based on evaluation tied to the World Travel Market (WTM) in London, one of the tourism industry’s most influential annual events.
This recognition highlights Naxos as a standout choice for travelers who want natural beauty, cultural authenticity, and true island charm.
How the 2026 Ranking Was Created
Travel blogger Marta Ostoya, widely recognized as “the most influential talent on the web,” shaped the final results through extensive on-the-ground research.
She combined the latest travel trends presented at WTM London with insights drawn from her journeys across 40 countries.
She published her findings on the travel blog “Where Life is Great,” which attracts hundreds of thousands of couples and travel enthusiasts looking for curated destination inspiration.

The ranking places Naxos in first position, followed by a diverse selection of destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and the Americas.

Ostoya visited Naxos after an invitation from the local municipality and emphasized the island’s ability to deliver what many travelers consider the ideal Greek summer. She pointed to golden beaches, clear turquoise waters, and a slower pace that supports rest and reset.
Naxos offers more than scenery. Mountain villages, local cuisine, and strong traditions create an experience that feels both relaxed and deeply rooted in Greek culture.
Ostoya also described Naxos as a particularly welcoming option for families, thanks to calm beaches suited to younger children and a community atmosphere that helps visitors feel comfortable from the start.
Local tourism leaders focus on international visibility
As the next tourism season approaches, Vangelis Katsaras, Deputy Mayor for Tourism of the Municipality of Naxos and Small Cyclades, stressed that international visibility remains a top priority. He explained that steady outreach efforts help keep the destination in focus on the global tourism map, and he cited Naxos’ first-place ranking as clear proof of that strategy.
He also noted that Naxos and the Small Cyclades showcase an authentic side of Greece through traditional villages, genuine hospitality, local customs, distinctive outdoor activities, and regional products.
Greece’s Naxos sets record tourism growth among top destinations in 2025
Tourism indicators in 2025 showed strong momentum for Naxos. The destination set a new arrivals record, including:
- 30.9% increase in air arrivals
- 5.8% increase in ferry travel
These year-over-year gains reflect Naxos’ rising profile among both domestic and international travelers.
